About Randy

Music has been a part of my life for over forty years. I began playing piano and guitar when I was six years old, and what started with exploring my dad's record collection eventually grew into a lifelong passion for playing, learning, and teaching music. Although I first started teaching simply to earn some extra income, I quickly discovered that helping others learn music is one of the most rewarding things I do. In many ways, teaching is where I feel the most "me."

My philosophy is simple: music lessons should be enjoyable while still helping students grow. I strive to meet each student where they are, whether that's a young beginner, an adult returning to music after many years, or someone looking to take their playing to the next level. Every student has different goals, and I enjoy tailoring lessons to fit their interests—whether that means learning favorite songs, building strong technique, or developing a deeper understanding of music. My favorite moments as a teacher are when something suddenly clicks and a student realizes they're capable of more than they thought possible.

I teach piano, guitar, ukulele, and electric bass to students of all ages and experience levels from my home studio in Bothell. My goal isn't simply to teach songs—it's to help students become confident, independent musicians who can continue learning for the rest of their lives. If I can inspire a lifelong love of music while giving students the tools to keep growing on their own, then I've done my job well.
